Luxury Peru Vacations - Not As Expensive As You Might Think

Cusco Cathedral, Plaza de Armas Peru
Over the last few years Peru has seen an increase in people wanting Luxury Peru Vacations, and the need has been met with a selection of really quite incredible high-end options including: superior hotels, first rate spa complexes, world class train rides and high end trekking services. Much of what is on offer is very good and high quality, but it could also be said that much of it is over-priced for what you get. In this article we take a look at the best value luxury and first class options available so that you can get a great deal without paying through the nose.

Here are our top tips for getting a great deal at the right price for your luxury Peru vacation:

Casa Andina Private Collection - Lima
This flagship property of the Casa Andina chain, and is located in the heart of the trendy district of Miraflores. Offering all the same amenities as hotels that cost twice the price, the Casa Andina is modern and elegant with great personalized service. Best of all it is situated in a great location and you are only a stone’s throw from all of Lima’s best restaurants, shops, casinos and bars. To include this on any of our luxury Peru Vacations and talk to a travel adviser about getting even better rates with our confidential tariffs.

Libertador - Cusco
Cusco has now got one of the finest selections of top rate accommodations, and just this week the J.W. Marriott Cusco opened its doors with a capacity of 160 rooms.  One good thing about more competition is better prices, and that is what the Libertador Cusco can offer. As a long standing player in the luxury market the Libertador Hotel has always offered a premium product, with great service, sumptuous surrounding and large comfortable rooms. Nowadays, prices here are half that of some of the other top rate accommodations (like the Monasterio, Palacio Nazarenas and J.W. Marriott), and we think that staying here is a great bargain for any Luxury Peru Vacations.

Novotel - Cusco
This 4 star property features a large inner colonial courtyard, and although may not have the glitz and glamor of some of the other high end places, it is sure a great bargain and a really nice place to base yourself for a few days. Consider up-grading to a colonial room, and take full advantage of a lesser-known but well-priced property in the heart of Cusco. Talk to a travel advisor about our confidential rates.

Machu Picchu Pueblo - Machu Picchu
Good lodgings close to one of South America’s top attractions are going to be expensive, but some are more expensive than others, and some offer more value than others. The Machu Picchu Pueblo by Inkaterra is one of the best value retreats in the area, and we highly recommend it. Although a night here will set you back more than USD 500, it is still only half the price of its nearest competitor - the Sanctuary Lodge. The price of a night’s stay includes dinner, onsite nature walks (with naturalist guides), free tea and coffee (grown in their jungle gardens) and access to the largest privately owned collection of orchids in South America.

Inca Rail Trains
For years luxury train rides in Peru were dominated by the Orient Express owned Hiram Bingham Train. Hugely expensive, a return ticket to Machu Picchu will set you back the best part of USD 600 per person. Nowadays there is another lesser-known operator that runs a similar route to Machu Picchu called Inka Rail. Their Presidential Service is similar in price to the Hiram Bingham Train (expensive) but their First Class Service is well-priced, very comfortable and perfect for a classy touch to luxury Peru vacations.

Privately Guided Tours
Take a moment to consider including privately guided tours on your trip, and ask your travel agent to price up group tours verses private tours. You may be surprised to know that it may only cost you a few dollars extra to get that personal touch. If you are travelling as a group of 4 or more people the difference in price is even less, perhaps only USD 2-3 more per person. Having a private guide and tour also gives you more flexibility to enjoy the places you like, lunch longer and take breaks whenever you want.
